From the meeting record: early voting for this election was announced at the county commission's July meeting as beginning "the 17th" (video, 23:42 · transcript), and the Election Commission's posted early voting notice (PDF) set the early-voting period of July 17 through August 1, 2026 at its office at 100 Public Square West, Shelbyville.

The public meeting record already shows business waiting for the commission that convenes after this election — including one item the record says is being held specifically for the newly seated commissioners. • The data-center moratorium resolution is being held for September. At the July 28, 2026 Planning Commission meeting, the planning director reported that the proposed one-year moratorium on data-center projects has been filed with the mayor's office and that the mayor is holding it for the September commission agenda so that newly seated commissioners "would have an opportunity to learn about it" before voting (video, 1:17:30 · transcript). • The senior property tax freeze remains an open option. The commission's motion to adopt the freeze failed 9–8–1 on June 9, 2026, per the official minutes (PDF) — and under the Property Tax Freeze Act the county legislative body may adopt the program by resolution in any future year, so nothing forecloses a future commission from taking it up again. • Some sitting commissioners said on the record they were serving their last term. In the opening minutes of the July 14, 2026 commission meeting, Commissioner Janice Brothers stated on the record that this is her last term (video, 6:51 · transcript). Which seats actually changed hands is a question the certified results will answer — not this page.
